"E-mail is dead"

 "E-mail is dead", said Mark Zuckerberg yesterday, announcing Facebook's new communication system. "Email is too slow and formal and will eventually follow the letter into extinction....We don't think that a modern messaging system is going to be email.....We want people to be able to communicate in whatever way they choose: email, text or Facebook message." Do you agree? If Zuckerberg's right, how does the future he predicts impact our future as researchers?
